Product development of wireless devices can be broadly split into 6 phases: definition, concept, product design, prototyping/testing, certificaiton and manufacturing. Radientum offers antenna design services for the entire product development life-cycle. This section deepdives into each of them.

You have a vision for a wireless product. You know how it should look, what materials will be used, and what the desired connectivity experience entails. But how do these requirements influence antenna design, and is your vision realistic?
The Feasibility Study, the inaugural step in the antenna design journey, answers these questions. It verifies the feasibility of your product plan and connectivity requirements from an antenna design perspective, ensuring alignment with your vision. Additionally, it identifies suitable wireless protocols, such as LTE, NFC and Bluetooth, to achieve the desired RF performance efficiently and cost-effectively.
With our simulation-driven approach, we provide you with a comprehensive feasibility study faster and more cost-effectively. This study serves as your reality check before committing to product development and progressing to the next design phase – Antenna Concepting.
Antenna Concepting is the cornerstone of designing an antenna that meets the demands of optimal wireless connectivity, regulatory compliance, and RF performance optimization. It navigates essential questions such as the suitability of off-the-shelf antennas versus custom solutions tailored to your product’s requirements. Additionally, it addresses strategies for ensuring your product meets regulatory standards and official certifications while optimizing RF performance and minimizing development time and costs.
During Antenna Concepting, a comprehensive design framework is crafted to guide the antenna design process. This framework encompasses crucial aspects such as antenna structure, component placement, wireless technology considerations, and preferred manufacturing methods. Moreover, it provides insights into selecting between off-the-shelf or custom-made antennas and identifies potential mechanical requirements.
By offering simulation-based performance forecasts, Antenna Concepting facilitates informed decision-making and minimizes the likelihood of costly and time-consuming revisions later in the design process.
During Antenna Concepting, you establish a preliminary design framework for the antenna, setting the stage for the subsequent detailed Antenna Design phase.
Here, you delve into the specifics of antenna hardware, structure, and other critical design elements, considering factors such as regulations, certifications, and manufacturing requirements. This meticulous process culminates in the creation of detailed design and performance reports, along with CAD drawings, preparing you to proceed to prototype production. Additionally, optional tests such as EMC, EMI, and SIPI can be carried out to ensure comprehensive evaluation.
Given that this phase represents the final design iteration before prototype manufacturing, prioritizing a thorough, professional, and simulation-supported approach to antenna design is paramount to minimize costly and time-consuming adjustments.
In Prototype Verification, the RF performance of the antenna design is measured with a physical prototype for the first time during the process. This phase is crucial as it’s the final chance to optimize the antenna’s performance before mass production. Adjustments made now are cost-effective compared to post-production modifications, which could compromise product quality or lead to batch scrapping.
Prototype Verification can start with a non-functional prototype, eliminating the need for software. Optionally, OTA measurements like TRP and TIS can be conducted for comprehensive testing.
The main goal of prototype verification is to ensure the antenna design meets regulatory, certification, and operator requirements. Matching components are fine-tuned to achieve desired settings, resulting in an updated design and CAD drawings provided in the final verification report. With these preparations complete, your product is ready for seamless manufacturing.
Antenna Pre-certification verifies the functionality of each custom antenna unit before official certification tests, reducing the risk of failure during formal certification. By validating functionality beforehand, you can proceed to official testing with assurance, minimizing delays and potential setbacks.
Radientum provides comprehensive support to streamline the manufacturing process and ensure optimal integration of custom antennas.
