Why test material RF parameters
When you develop a wireless product you need to have an antenna to communicate and you need to use various materials in your product. Dielectric material selection has an impact on your antenna. It can either de-tune the resonance frequency too much to compensate or it can introduce losses that lower the efficiency and gain of your antennas. In many cases, the material properties are known accurately enough to design antennas. However, that is not always the case. Sometimes the electrical properties are provided for different frequency ranges or not at all. To ensure successful antenna implementation high accuracy, electric characterization is vital.
Testing capabilites
The most common frequency for characterization testing is 5.1GHz. This is due to the impact material would have and the fact that material parameters tend to remain relatively stable at lower frequencies. If you need a specific frequency, let us know and we will find the best way to get it tested.
In order for us to do the testing, we need a sample of the material. The sample size has to be at least 30mm in diameter or 30x30mm while the maximum thickness is less than 1.95mm but it depends on the material. We will help you to define the correct thickness for the sample.
